Application Process

Every painting project we undertake at Rhino Shield of Pittsburgh starts with a comprehensive pressure wash of all surfaces set for coating. This crucial first step eliminates dirt and debris from the substrate, ensuring an unblemished surface for our work to commence. This guarantees the subsequent layers of primer and paint can adhere effectively to the surfaces, ensuring a uniform, enduring finish.

Our team meticulously scrutinizes all areas marked for coating, formulating a detailed plan for efficient project completion. We pay attention to areas needing special care, such as loose nails or siding boards, and make a list of any components requiring replacement or repair like stucco or wood. This ensures every facet of your home's exterior receives due attention for optimal results.

At this stage, we conduct any necessary repairs or replacements to the siding materials. We match the material precisely to what is currently on your home, preserving the integrity and uniformity of your property's appearance. Our goal is to restore the surface back to its original state, ensuring a cohesive look once the coating process is complete.

We manually remove all loose paint and debris. This vital step is performed with maximum precision to provide a clean, bondable surface for the primer application. By eliminating any flaking or peeling paint, we ensure that the new coating adheres seamlessly for a sleek, professional outcome.

We fill minor cracks and holes in the siding and diligently caulk all vertical joints. This includes careful caulking around windows and doors to minimize air infiltration. Our use of superior elastomeric acrylic caulk assures both longevity and flexibility, while avoiding caulking underneath the laps to maintain ventilation.

We take measures to mask off, cover, or temporarily remove all areas not to be coated. This includes items such as light fixtures, mailboxes, drainpipes, utility boxes, etc. Extra attention is given to areas prone to overspray, such as roofs, plants, lawns, decks, and windows, to prevent accidental coating.

We apply the primer via spraying to seal, waterproof, and provide a bonding agent for the finish coat. Our exclusive primer formula includes fungicides, algaecides, and mildewcides, which aid in reducing future mold and mildew growth. The primer dries to a clear, tacky finish, ready for the top-coat application.

Finally, after all the meticulous preparation and priming is completed, the ceramic top-coat is applied. This layer can be tinted to your choice of 1500 colors. In some areas, brushing and rolling may be required for optimal results. Porous surfaces may necessitate back rolling.

Once the finish coat has been thoroughly applied, we touch up the detailed areas and tight spaces that might have been missed or need extra attention. This ensures every corner of your home's exterior looks perfect and professionally done.

After the finish coat has dried, we remove all masking materials and drop cloths. Any shrubbery that was tied off is undone, and paint chips are cleaned up, even shop vacuumed if necessary. We take pride in returning your surroundings to the same, if not better, condition as before we arrived.

The project is not considered complete until you’re completely satisfied with our work. We conduct a final inspection to ensure that our work meets your expectations and our high standards.
